Small Manhattan based voice and data integrator seeks experienced technician
Duties:
* Service and installation of traditional TDM and VoIP telephone systems in multiple environments (office, health care, retail, dining, and industrial etc.)
* Diagnose & troubleshoot hardware and software issues for customers.
* Administer telephony servers (call accounting, external voice mail, call center management, teleworkers), including upgrades, backups (on-line and FTP), security, etc.
* Administer and service network components including routers, managed switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
* Report troubles and work with telcos and CLEC’s to complete installations and effect repairs.
* Provide remote support for customers.
* Installation of CPE equipment at customer locations.
* Install, assemble and configure computers, network infrastructure, peripherals and related hardware.
* Perform voice and data cabling and moves (on an occasional basis).
* Troubleshoot and resolve problems with telephony and attached computer systems, including hardware and software, external/internal e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems.
* Must be available as weekly on-call hours technician to respond to (remote and on-site) emergency service requests on a rotating basis.
Job Requirements:
* Five years minimum experience servicing key and PBX systems.
* Experience with one or more of the following telephony platforms: Avaya Partner/Legend/Magix, , Nortel Modular/ICS, Nortel Option is a plus
* Experience with TCP/IP telephony data network, including QoS, VLAN, and Routing.
* Working knowledge of IP Telephony, LAN, WAN, and WLAN protocols.
* Experience in software and hardware installation/maintenance, system installation, file management and system troubleshooting.
* SIP protocol knowledge (SIP endpoints/SIP trunking) a plus.
* Knowledge and experience of IP, DSL, T-1/PRI, VoIP required
* WLAN expertise is a plus
* Knowledge of PC and server hardware, software and peripherals such as CPUs, monitors, network components, and modems;
* Must be comfortable explaining technical concepts, procedures, and telephony features to end users.
* Knowledge of testing and monitoring LAN`s and WAN`s
* Ability to organize own work, set priorities and meet critical time deadlines; and communicate effectively with co-workers, superiors, telco representatives, and customers
* Requires effective time management and planning, written and oral communication skills, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, follow company practices and guidelines, and work independently.
* Requires physical exertion (carrying ladder, installing voice and data cabling, lifting, mounting components to wall, etc.)
* Must be able to work with minimal direction
* Strict adherence to company practices and regulations
Education Requirements:
* High school diploma.
* Equivalent to two years of college-level coursework in computer science, information technology or a related field.
