The Network Field Technician/Consultant will provide hardware, systems software, and network installation, maintenance and support to approximately 100 clients in the North East area. Client size ranges from 5 to 150 workstations with offices in 1 to 4 locations.
The position involves:
• Installing and configuring Windows 2000/2003 Servers including Exchange and SQL servers.
• Installing, upgrading, and repairing workstations and server hardware and operating systems.
• Day to day network administration of client servers and workstations including adding users and printers.
• Support of Internet connectivity including router and firewall configurations.
• Working with clients to provide technical and follow-on support, and to troubleshoot technical issues.
Required Skills and Experience
For a field technician candidate to be considered, they must have:
1. Hands-on experience with Windows XP desktops. Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and networking concepts. Experience with server administration, installation and configuration a plus but we will train.
2. Sharp memory and diagnostic skills. A sense of excellence and determination.
3. Excellent client communication skills.
4. Ability to relate highly technical information in a clear and easily understood manner to non-technical personnel.
5. Ability to provide technical support on complex issues via memory without the aid of computers or books.
About the Position
This is a position to work for Stemp Systems Group at our Long Island City office. We are located one subway stop (5 minutes) outside Manhattan. We will provide extensive hands-on training and mentoring in the technical issues, our methods and standards. A car is required to travel between clients and related travel expenses are reimbursed. Employee will be required to sign a non-compete agreement.

Stemp Systems Group is a small, boutique systems and networking consulting firm. We are our clients only source of MIS support and essentially act in the capacity of an inside MIS department on an outsourced basis. The firm has been in existence since 1986 and has worked with many clients for 10 to 20 years. The firm currently employs 15 technical and administrative staff. Morris Stemp, a CPA and MBA, is president of the company.
