RESEARCH FOUNDATION FOR MENTAL HYGIENE, INC.
TITLE: RESEARCH ASSISTANT IV
GRADE/SALARY: G9 $14,554.50, Part-Time 50%
DEPARTMENT: Neurochemistry
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Individuals recruited for Research Assistants positions may be graduate students in a related field. In cases where individuals are not graduate students, qualifications will vary depending on the difficulty of the work to be performed. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate for entry-level Research Assistant positions. In recruiting for higher-level positions, the requirements of the project and the difficulty of the work must be weighed against the applicant’s education, training and research experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A part-time research assistant position funded by grant is immediately available to study
the possible pathogenic mechanism involved in autism in an active research group. Candidates should have experience in biomedical and stem cell research. Ideal candidates should have strong problem-solving ability and have research experience in
molecular genetics, especially gene analysis, gene site-mutagenesis, cell culture, and
viral vector construction and expression.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Research Assistants aide Research Scientists in the performance of basic research involving the formulation, conduct and analysis, interpretation, and reporting of scientific investigations of phenomena or problems with applications in specialized subject matter fields in the medical, biological, and behavioral sciences.
Employees in this series perform clerical and technical laboratory work in a biological, physical, or social science program which may involve the administration of standard testing procedures or other technical procedures routinely conducted in the course of research. The level of the assistant depends on the complexity of work performed, the sophistication of equipment used, or the level of the independence expected from the incumbent.
