TheStreet.com, a digital financial media company, is seeking an experienced senior Java developer to join our technology development team.
TheStreet.com uses cutting-edge Web development tools, including a variety of open source technologies (such as Resin, Solr, Lucene, Hibernate, Struts, Spring). We also exploit the latest AJAX capabilities to present a compelling, information-rich experience to our customers and viewers.

We`re looking for a senior level developer who has experience implementing high-performance Java Web applications. We are looking for a developer who isn’t afraid to experiment with new technologies, share and promote his or her ideas within the team, and interact directly with the creative, editorial and business organizations within the company. We need an innovative, creative technologist who is also a good communicator. The developer should be comfortable working in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment.
Required Skills and Experience:
• 6+ years of Java Web development experience using Struts and/or Spring (EJB is not a requirement).
• Solid understanding of the JSP/Servlet API and the HTTP protocol.
• Experience using the Resin and Tomcat servlet containers.
• Experience building Web content management and Web publishing applications.
• Strong knowledge of XML, XSL and web services.
• Strong experience using Oracle.
• Expertise in business requirements analysis and technical design.
• 4-year computer science degree or equivalent.
Valuable Experience:
• Experience using Solr.
• Experience with e-commerce and accounting software and programming principles.
• Familiarity with e-commerce applications like Clear Commerce, Payment Tech, Great Plains, etc.
• Understanding of e-commerce and accounting of online subscription products.
• Experience using server scripting languages (PHP, Python, Ruby) and browser scripting (JavaScript, Flash ActionScript).
• Familiarity with Unix/Linux command-line functions and utilities.
