Managing Director (Based in Essex) Satellite Communications * Engineering Sector * Salary: Circa 90K - 100K DOE
This particular division of our client`s organisation functions as the development, production and repair facility for the digital modem portion product line. Sales in the EMEA region originate from this office and represent the entire product line. Product marketing and development of the digital product line also originates from this office.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage a P&L center
Provide strong leadership of multiple groups in a flat organizational structure
To closely manage R&D and foster communications between the functional blocks of the organization
To be a driving force in the development and promulgation of best practices across the range of activities from market research through to product design, development, testing and deployment
The Managing Director will be an experienced executive with an international and will play an important role in developing, positioning and promoting the objectives of the company and also the way in which the organisation designs and produces products. The scope of this role is broad and the projected scale of coverage and the organization?s ambitious targets will require an entrepreneurial spirit.
The Role
Directly manage the UK engineering staff via the three existing functional managers to maintain or improve upon the schedule of the current product development plan
Work with UK sales to formulate tactics and plans for increasing sales and developing new products in a strategy to increase overall market share
Work with operations staff to control production costs and increase production yield
Put in place a business development infrastructure
Develop and manage membership and alliances
Provide business acumen, energy and vision
The Person
Excellent record of achievement, in a dynamic entrepreneurial setting
Must have excellent engineering, market, business and leadership skills in the satellite communications industry
Ability to think and act strategically whilst maintaining a pragmatic perspective
Experienced at nurturing R&D, business and political relationships and establishing long-term partnerships
Must be comfortable working in a flat organizational structure with limited direct support
Notable successes in initiating and concluding projects in EMEA region
Strong influencing style and executive presence; articulate and confident
